Pike Place Market & Singaporean Gathering

23rd October 2008 (Thurs): Trip to Pike Place Market and my 1st Starbucks Coffee from the 1st Starbucks Store

Finally! After visiting Pike Place Market 2 times since I was in Seattle, I managed to properly walk and explore it, and get myself a cup of Starbucks!!!

But before that, I met up with Sila for lunch and I got to satisfy my craving for Pho~ (hmm.. I craving for it again :p) Pho is Vietnamese noodles and is the most common Vietnamese food along the Ave. I think there are 4-5 stores just along the Ave! So far I have tried 3 stores! :):) Sila says it is not authentic (as usual) but I find it good! At least it does not have those strong beef smell in it.

- I had Pho Dac Biet (Combination)-
which was Rice Noodle soup with eye-round, brisket, flank, soft-tendon, tripe, meatball... basically just a lot of different beef..

We also ordered thai milk tea and spring roll.. the cream puff is free!
After the filling lunch, we met up with Cynthea and Rita to head down to Pike Place. First stop, the 1st Starbucks store to get my first cup of Starbucks in Seattle. I decided to try something new instead of my usual caramel macchiato.. so I tried Java Chip and it was not bad. Was very tempted to buy the souvenir cup from the store though.. :p

After that we walked around the market and took some photos..

-Names of people who have donated money to the market are on tiles on the market's floor-

-Rachel the pig, the unofficial mascot of Pike Place-
But actually it is a super huge piggy bank that helps the market collect donations

-Seattle Aquarium near Pike Place.. yet to go there..-

-This is a sculptor of Christopher Columbus.. lol-

Then we decided to get ourselves some fish and chips! In the end we settled for a budget meal at Elliotts. As we were sitting outside, kind of like by the harbor, by the time we ate finish we were freezing~~ and we faster made our way home..

18th October 2008 (Sat): Gathering at Korean Restaurant with fellow Singaporeans
Got back from my field trip to Columbia Plateau and after resting for a while, I met up with some Singaporeans to have dinner :) Because they got cars so they brought me, Cynthea and another Singapore guy Jonathan to this Korean Restaurant that is up North in Seattle.

But before heading to the restaurant, we stop by this supermarket Ranch 99 that sells lots and lots of Asian groceries!! Specially catered to the Chinese population.. too bad I am on dining plan and cannot cook.. else it wld be massive grocery shopping spree! Jonathan basically went mad there... lol..

The Korean Restaurant that we went is like one of the best in Seattle and the food was really good! We ordered quite a lot of food and turn out it was only US$15 per pax.. I didn’t take any photos :( have to ask one of the guys for the group photo that we took..
