8th Nov 2008 (Sat): My first football game - Husky Game!
Husky Football Game! But before that..
Rita and I went to Northgate in the early afternoon because I needed to go camera hunting:( My camera went haywire a few weeks ago and it just got worse and worse. Dunno what’s wrong with it but I think the focus or lens got problem.. No idea!
If i could on my camera.. this would be the kind of pictures i could take.. But most of the time the camera wld try to focus and then auto off.. have to try many times or attempt to heat up the camera a little (too cold?) before it can work properly..
Got a few models in mind and we went price hunting at Target and Best Buy.. But I did not buy any on the spot.. needed to go back and check the web for more details and consulted my Dad. As we were leaving, I randomly decided to go into this camera shop that we in the mall and we saw this promotion for Nikon S600!! It was US $199,99… exactly the same price as Nikon S550 which I was considering to buy.. and Nikon S600 was so much better! Hee.. very tempted to buy on the spot.. but decided to go back and ask my Dad first..
After that Rita and I went directly to the Husky Stadium for the game. Was suppose to meet Sila too but in the end she could not make it back to UW in time and she gave the game a miss.
The game was UW vs. ASU (Arizona State University)

-My Student Ticket!-
Walking to the stadium... Sea of Purple! (mummy, your fav! :D )

There was still some time before the game and we took some photos and I bought a souvenir cup with soft drink in it. :)

The players enter the field and it was kick off time!

But before that and before the start of each quarter, the crowd would do wave their hands back and fro. No idea what that means.. but me and Rita decipher it as jia you! Jia you! Haha just follow the crowd and do it together with them..
Game begins!
Cheerleaders hard at work during the game.. not forgetting UW band too

I roughly understand the game all thanks to Rugby in SA. :) At first the Huskies were not doing that bad.. they were either leading/losing by a bit or draw.. But after half time, they just keep losing to ASU.. resulting in them losing for the 8th straight time this season.. Interestingly, every time a touch down was made, the cheerleaders for ASU and the alumni for UW would do push up based on the number of points that they have been scored so far.

-UW Alumni Band-

-UW Alumni doing the push ups-
-ASU cheerleaders and mascot doing the push ups-
I guess the cheerleaders have to do the push ups cause they are not in homeground..
As for the mascot doing the push up.. dunno to pity the mascot or pity the guys holding him up.. lol..
And everytime ASU scores, the guy cheerleaders would run around with their flags with letters A-S-U.. but if they are running back to their side of the stadium.. it reads U-S-A.. so UW ppl used that to suan them.. watch the video to understand what i'm saying.. :)
In the middle of the game, there was a parade to acknowledge the work of some people related to UW.. There was also a parade of veterns (from the army, navy etc..) who had attended the game because the coming Tue was Veteren Day..
At half time, Rita and I was feeling hungry and cold.. so we bought the clam chowder from the vendor Ivar's (which is a famous fish & chip store here in Seattle)

At the end, the final score was Huskies 19, Sun Devils (ASU) 39.

One supporter of UW was so mad that when the players were exiting the field, he just keep shouting at them and saying a lot of demoralizing stuff. Guess he just cannot accept the losing streak that UW football team is facing. But people here are really supportive of their football team! (if there is any huskies game during that weekend, ppl wld just be wearing purple color clothes..)
-Huskies exiting the field-

-ASU (Sun Devils) making their exit-
UW mascot is a Husky.. and his name is Harry.. and we manage to take a photo with him!
Overall, it was a very good experience and an eye opener. Glad that i have a chance to experience a game that Americans love very much..
(Even though at the end of the game we were freezing.. it started to get cold due to slight drizzle)
*How did i manage to take photos if my camera is spoilt? hee.. i kept blowing it and trying to on it.. and once it was ok.. i left my camera on for the rest of the night.. :):) also must thank rita for lots of the photos!*
