Field Trip to Olympic Peninsula

22nd Nov (Sat): Field Trip to Olympic Peninsula
The make-up field trip.. finally got to see who is the TA that overslept..
Olympic National Park is a very beautiful place to visit.. but one need a car!! :(
so the alternative to visit that part of the area is to join my geog class field trip..
For this field trip, we had to drive to Port Edmonds, take a ferry to reach the Olympic Peninsula, and from there drive to the place we are visiting, which is near the town Sequim.

When we reached there, the whole place was so foggy.. u could not see anything in front of you.. but as we go more inland, the place cleared up. But the TA told us that it snowed the night before in the mountains so we won't be able to go up.. :(
Fog clearing up..

And it was bright and sunny again!
Erm.. i thought we were gg to Hurricane Ridge, the famous place to visit there.. but turn out we went to see some spit.. dunno whether did the TA went to change the itinerary on his own..
So the next few pictures are the area that is cornered off by the Dungeness Spit.. a gd place to harvest clams and oysters..
But seriously.. i didn't know what the TA was talking about.. so hee.. i wld just post nice photos i took from here on..

The split itself..

A deep habour that was formed due to the splits..

Dunno what place is this.. but there's a dam here that they are gg to demolish as it is too expensive to upkeep and it is damaging to the breeding grounds of salmon.. so we learned about what could be the possible effects..
but the place is just so beautiful.. the top of the mountain is covered with trees that are frozen..

By then, ppl were requesting to go back even though it was only 2pm.. we took close to 3 hours to travel all the way here and we only spend 2+hours seeing stuff.. -_-'' guess they only want the bonus pts..
So we headed home.. else we could have gone up to the mountain cause the fog had cleared up..
Sun was starting to set by the time we were on the ferry..

Overall, the field trip was not as good as i expected.. didn't learn (or see) as much as compared to the rest.. maybe i had placed too much expectation on the field trip itself.. or maybe its because of the TA :p

Later that night.. or rather in the morning, at 2.30a.m, somebody went to play a prank and set off the fire alarm.. lucky I wasn’t asleep yet even though I was almost falling asleep.. when the alarm sounded, I was wondering what’s that sound and thought it would go off.. but after a while i registered that it was the fire alarm.. immediately got off my bed and went to get my keys from my table.
Wanted to walk out with only the t-shirt and thin jacket I was wearing (not thinking properly) until I saw Kayla carrying her blacket.. then I realized I need my thicker jacket!! Went back to take it and we went to gathered at the field nearby.. while walking there.. i realized I was wearing my slipper -_-'' so after 20mins (the time we lingered at the field while the UW police and the fire department find out what’s the problem) my toes were sooo cold!!! Starting to turn numb liao.. had to go back and faster wear socks to keep it warm.. and I wasn’t tired after that... :( took some time to fall asleep..
what an experience..

So lesson learnt.. next time must remember jacket and shoes..
