18th Nov (Tue): CM313 Product Fair
Finally the day has come to sum up my project for my construction methods and material class!
The project requires us to find a new product or material in the market and research on it. The deliverable of the project is for us to come up with a poster and a mock up to showcase the material/product and its life cycle.
For my group, we worked on the “Greenest Brick” and I’m proud to claim credit for finding this product. :D
The “Greenest Brick” is developed in 2007 and don’t be misled by its name. It is the greenest because it is made up of 100% fly ash (a type of waste material from coal burning) and cures at room temperature. This results in bricks that are 95% more energy efficient as compared to normal clay bricks which need to be fired. Hee.. why do I sound like I’m marketing the product? Lol.. but I have good reasons!
For the project, it is ideal if we could get samples of the product itself. So I went to email the developer of this product.. and he replied my email!! He even agreed to send us not one but 2 samples!! And we need not even pay for the shipping even though the bricks were heavy!! The bricks reached us super fast (like within 4 days from Columbia!!!) Good enough reason to help them market their pdt? :D
So on product fair itself, all the groups would be displaying their posters and mock-ups and we would take turn to explain our product to the rest of the people walking around during the fair. Hee… after a while.. Realized that our product is really quite cool and quite a lot of ppl was amazed by it.. Hope we are able to get a good grade on it!
