Boston & Back to Newark (New Jersey, New York)

6th September 2008 (U.S. Time)
I have stepped into Harvard! :D
First stop in Boston was to visit the all too famous Harvard University..
The weird looking object in the top left hand corner is some auspicious item that is said to be beneficial towards learning.

-The grounds of Harvard-

-Mr. John Harvard, the founder-
No one actually know how Mr. Harvard look like.. so they just use a random student as a model to make this statue of Mr. Harvard. If you notice, his left shoe is very shiny.. cos a lot of people go and touch it.. they say that if u touch it you wld become more intelligent.. wahaha

-The Harvard Crest-

-The entrances to Harvard-

-The streets that are just outside Harvard University-

-Had our breakfast at one of the bakery that was nearby-
One of them was like a chili cupcake.. weird..

We then visited another famous institution nearby.. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Partial skyline of Boston.. showing the 2 highest building in Boston.. on the left is the John Hancock Tower, and on the right is the Prudential Tower. We went to the John Hancock Tower and next to this modern building, there was an old Trinity Church. Old and new together in a small space..
It was pretty cos the John Hancock Tower exterior was fully glass windows and it was able to reflect the Trinity Church.

Found this turtle and rabbit sculpture in the vicinity.. so cute! The tour group then went to take a Boston boat ride to see the skyline of Boston. We opted out of it and went walking around nearby..

-The boat which the tour group sat- -Streets of Boston-

It was a Sunday and i think we were at the Business District, the whole place was very quiet and there was not much shops (and even if there were, it was closed) and things to see..

The boat tour was abt an hour and after that we all went to the Quincy Market. We only could spent 45mins at the market cos some of the ppl in the tour group had to catch their flight home in the late afternoon. The market was so near the habour for the boat cruise but our tour guide never tell us we could come here and meet them later.. :( if not we could have spent more time at this place..

We had to settle our lunch here and being in Boston, we had to go eat Clam Chowder! Bought the chowder from this shop..And i ate my very first clam!
Not bad.. very chewy.. hee.. (i have been eating clam since!)

We then went to buy some food back for dinner (lucky we did) and time was up.. it was 11.45a.m. and we had to leave this place and Boston.. :(
So technically speaking, i dun think i even got to see Boston at all! :(

By then, the tour company was already using our coach to pick up ppl from Boston to New York where they wld start their tour.. they really know how to make use of resources..

In the end, we stayed on the coach till 6pm (6 hours!!) just to drop ppl at Boston Airport, travel to New York, drop ppl off at Flushing in New York, drop ppl off at JFK Airport and pick ppl up too.. got caught in traffic jam due to heavy rain cause by Storm Hannah.. finally we reached our hotel at Newark..

in the end we kind of got to see more of New York City.. like free tour and lucky we bought food and could eat along the way..

As we had reached hotel at abt 6pm.. which i considered quite early.. and there was nothing much to do around the hotel. just have to grab dinner at the airport and i would be free to blog! but..

as we were looking for dinner at the airport, we got struck in the airtrain!!! me and my parents were the only one on the train and we got stuck. -_-''' the train in the first place was a little spoilt i guess cos the door couldn't close properly in the first place.. but i think due to the storm Hannah that was over the east coast of US.. causing heavy heavy rains.. the train short circuited while changing track.. cos before the train got stuck.. i saw blue sparks..

in total we got stranded in the small train cabin for 45mins.. a tad too long for me..

the driver explained that there were safety procedures in place and we have to wait patiently etc.. in the end the airport security and the police(port authority) was called and they arrived in another train on the other track.. they ordered for complete shut down off electricity for the air train and we cross over the track to board the other train back to the terminal.

After that, the police took down our particulars and the airport security ppl was kind enough to fetch us by car to the terminal that we were intending to go to purchase dinner. Another airport security car even stop traffic for us to let our car pass..lol..

By then i was sooo hungry.. we quickly buy our dinner and took another airtrain back to the terminal to take our shuttle back to the hotel.. dun wan to stay in the airport anymore.. but think this incident caused some mayhem in the airport.. at the terminal we got off.. sirens were sounding super loudly.. lol..

so our short trip to grab some dinner turned into 2 hours and by the time we reached hotel is abt 9.30p.m and i was too tired to blog.. what an experience..
