Canada - Quebec City

5th September 2008 (U.S. Time)

Woke up quite early again to travel to Quebec City, which is the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec. There was some battle in Quebec regarding the ruling of the territory or something between British and France (cannot really remember already.. :p )
So we visited the Battle Field Park where the battle was fought.. Lots of cannons there..
Within Quebec, there is the old Quebec and the new Quebec. We visited the old Quebec which was within fortified walls.
Below is the statue of Samuel de Champlain, the founder of Quebec.

Within the old Quebec City, there is the upper Town and the lower Town. Located at the upper Town is the Chateau Frontenac Hotel, which is very impressive and it is like the icon of Quebec City.

-Views of the Lower Town from the Upper Town-
To get down to the lower town, you either walk down steep steps or you pay to take the Escalier. Super steep..

The tour guide suggested we try out French meals that he had arranged since we are in Quebec.. but as it was optional and experience tell us that food he say was delicious was not actually really delicious, we decided to find food on our own and use the rest of the time to walk around the city.
(Sure enough, those ppl who went for the meal said the meal was horrible.. wahaha)

-Had our lunch at this place-

- Our lunch, shared between my parents and I- After eating, we went to walk around the Lower Town. The buildings there have a distinct European feel with its stone buildings and winding streets lined with shops and restaurants. They are mainly buildings that have been there since the beginning of the city

-Mother Goose from nursery rythmes?-

After abt 1 hour of free time, we left Quebec City and headed back in the direction leading to USA.

For dinner, the tour guide again arranged for the tour group to eat Lobsters.. but we again opt out.. thinking we can eat some other food nearby BUT he never tell us that he wld be bringing us to this chinese restaurant that is up on top of a small hill and there is no buildings or eateries within walking distance.. felt cheated.. :( (pity those foreigners in our tour gp.. they stayed outside the restaurant for 1 hour while the rest were eating-no where to go and grab food)

The architecture of the restaurant building was impressive, like those palace in China.. and the interior was decorated with a lot of chinese stuff.. place was quite big..

I ordered fried noodles..and i got sheng mien.. (yar literally FRIED noodles -_-'')
it was horrible.. my mom's fried rice was so much nicer..

Feeling cheated after the meal, we headed off to our hotel Sheraton Ferneroft Resort, which actually contain a water theme park! but no chance to go see it (or use it) since we arrived at the hotel so late and leave so early..
