San Juan Islands (2D1N) - Day 2

-28th September 2008-

Woke up at around 7.30a.m and we headed off to eat the complimentary American breakfast provided by the hotel. Also packed some bread and sausage to go for lunch :p

The main itinerary of the day was to visit the Lavender Farm and the Limekiln Point State Park. But we are not cycling there! Lesson learnt from the day before.. we hired a cab to take us and our bikes to the Lavender Farm, and from there we would cycle to Limekiln Point State Park, where we arrange the cabbie to pick us up at 3pm.
It was a good thing we did not cycle all the way to the Park or the Lavender Farm yesterday cause it was super super far away (abt 11 miles) and the ride on the cab was longer then the ride we hitched yesterday. phew!
-Some photos i took while on the cab-
And finally we reach the Lavender Farm! Beautiful! We had the place to ourself for a while before a group of foreign students came along. But it was good cause they helped us take group photos and vice versa.

p.s. the 3 lower photos in the above picture are my fav shots of the day!

Lots of photo of me :):)

-Our bikes-

There was a gift shop at the farm and we bought chocolate lavender ice-cream to eat. :) taste a little wierd.. but was still edible..
After that we set off to the park.. didn't know how long we would take but we gave ourself buffer time.. (maybe too much buffer time..)

-Along the route to the park-

I think we took abt 1 hour to cycle to the park.. and the ride was mostly downhill.. so we kind of got to the park much earlier then expected.
The lighthouse that was the main attraction of the park.. other than being the lookout point for Oscar Whales.. but none was there for us to see :(:( else i think can see them jumping out of the water etc.
We ate our lunch here and we were actually ready to go at 1p.m. But we arranged our cab driver to pick us up at 3pm and there was no hp reception on this part of the island.. so we just linger around the park for 2 hours..

Did some climbing down to the water surface..

and 'played' with the sun

We were ready to go by 2.45p.m.. dismantling our bikes to put them in the cab.. and hoping the cab driver comes on time as we had a ferry to catch at 4p.m.

And she did arrive at 3pm :) For the route back to the hotel, the cabbie drove another route that would pass through the north side of the island cause she knew we did not have the time to visit that part of the island.. so considered free tour of the island and it did not require us to cycle! but it also caused us to be quite tight in our schedule to catch the ferry..

-San Juan Country Park-
the place where ppl go to rent kyark so that they can kyark together with the whales..
-Farmland and winery-
After returning to the hotel to collect our bags, we had to return our bikes, grab some dinner and catch the ferry.. mad rush.. but lucky got the hotel shuttle..

On our way back on the ferry, we got to see some sea lions.. busking in the sun..

-and a view of Mt. Baker-

The sun was setting when we were almost reaching Seattle..

And managed to take a photo of the skyline of Seattle at night.. :)

-the end-
